A company's success is tightly linked to the communities in which it operates and grows. At Cowan, community involvement is not just something we talk about. We know that active involvement greatly enriches community life, and we are committed to improving the quality of life in the communities where our employees live and work. We fulfill that commitment primarily through the following programs and events.

Cowan Community Volunteer Program

For many years, Cowan employees have volunteered their time in their own communities. At Cowan, we believe the best way to support the communities where our employees reside is by supporting the charities they care about. As a result, we have established the Cowan Company Volunteer Program which annually distributes funds to charities selected by our volunteering employees and their families.

The Cowan Charity Classic

The Cowan Charity Classic is an annual golf tournament structured to provide charitable donations to charities located in the Waterloo Region, as well as additional support to charities in the other communities where Cowan has office locations. The tournament has been in existence since 2002, and raises funds through generous support provided by our business partners, community partners, clients and other foursome participants. These funds are then matched by The Frank Cowan Foundation.

Past recipients of the Cowan Charity Classic include organizations such as; Family and Children's Services of the Waterloo Region, kidsLINK, the Child Witness Centre, kidsAbility, the Lansdowne Children's Centre, Huron Perth Centre for Children and Youth, Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre, Woodstock & District Developmental Services and the Hamilton Children's Developmental Rehabilitation Program.

The Cowan Holiday Card Program

Since 2004, The Frank Cowan Foundation has donated funds annually during the holiday season to YMCA chapters in communities where our employees live, work and raise their families. The funds are being given to the YMCA to allow children, who couldn't otherwise, the opportunity to attend YMCA summer camps - and a chance to create memories and smiles.

The Cowan Read-a-thon

An annual summer read-a-thon is open to children and grandchildren of Cowan employees between the ages of 4 and 14 who want to take part in a summer reading program. For every book read, the Frank Cowan Foundation donates funds to support local literacy efforts in the communities where Cowan has offices.
